The First Self PicRobert Cornelius (1809-1893), was one of the first American pioneers of photography. He took one of the earliest surviving photographs in America in October 1839, outside his place of business using the daguerreotype process. His self-portrait is believed to be one of--if not the--first photographs of a person ever to be produced.
